Sensei Eric Marn on one of his frequent flights to Cuba,
where he teaches seminars at Sensei Pedro Falcon Lopez's Dojo. Sensei Eric
Marn is helping Cuba become part of the FSKD organization, and provides the Dojo
with new uniforms, belts, training equipment, karate seminars, referee
clinics, and technical support. Sensei Marn has found the Cuban
karateka to be enthusiastic in their pursuit of all aspects of the martial
art of Shotokan Karate. The Cuban karateka are ferocious sparring competitors
and take to kumite like ducks to water.

Here is Sempai Carlos Rodriguez receiving his shodan promotion
certificate from Sensei Salvador Perez (left, Godan) and

President and Executive Vice-President, respectively, of the Asociacion
Cubana de Shotokan Karate-Do (ACSK). The ACSK has over 161 affiliate
dojos with over 8,000 students. Spectators seated to the right are the

To the left is Sensei Salvador Perez Quevedo (Godan) who is the
president of the Association Cubana de Shotokan Karate-Do. Sensei Perez has
been appointed by the Cuban government to the position of Chairman
of the Cuban Martial Arts Federation. As the chairman, he is charged
with overseeing all of the different martial arts (judo, Tae Kwon Do,
Shotokan karate, Shito Ryu, Goju Karate, aikido, Kung Fu, etc.) in Cuba. He makes
the decision as to which athletic events and which Cuban athletes will
participate in competition against other countries.

Sensei Eric Y. Marn and Datu Lowell Manabe flank Sensei D'Arcy Rahming in
his All Star Traditional Karate dojo. Datu Manabe gave a short exhibition
of kali/Escrima to Sensei Rahming's class which was well received.
